Create an OpenAI key

About a minute on OpenAI’s site, and Palier sees none of it. Watch the video, or follow the steps.

Go to platform.openai.com and log in, or create an account. OpenAI’s platform (opens in a new tab)
Open Settings, then Billing, and add a payment method and some credit: a key only works on an account that can pay. OpenAI’s billing page (opens in a new tab)
Open API keys and choose “Create new secret key”. OpenAI’s API keys page (opens in a new tab)
Name it Palier, so you know what it is for, and leave the other settings as they are.
Copy the key: OpenAI shows it only once. Keep it private, like a card number: anyone who has it can run up charges on your account.
Come back to Palier and paste it into the “OpenAI API key” field.
Last, on the limits page, set a monthly budget. That limit, not Palier, is what bounds what you can spend. OpenAI’s limits page (opens in a new tab)
